HAPPY WEEK BEFORE SPRING BREAK! YAY! We have a very busy (and short) week ahead of us. As you all know, we have only a few short weeks until the ASPIRE test. On the days that we are in the classroom this week, I'll be discussing test-taking tips and strategies with the kids. Here is what our week will look like.
Monday: Students will look at their latest STAR reading scores and set a realistic goal for their last attempt, which will be in a month or so. Then, we will discuss various test-taking strategies to prepare for the ASPIRE. Tuesday: Civil Rights Museum field trip! We will be out of the classroom. Wednesday-Thursday: Students will put the test-taking strategies discussed Monday to use. I will give the students a piece of text with both multiple-choice and open-ended questions to answer once they've read it. I will give them 30 minutes of class to read and answer as many questions as they can. We will do this just like the ASPIRE, so I will have dividers set up, and I won't be giving them any help to find or compose answers. For the last 20 minutes of class, we will discuss the correct answers as well as compose open-ended responses together. Friday: E-Day! Students will complete an assignment for me at home. They will be given this assignment no later than Wednesday. If you would like a few helpful test-taking videos, click the links below! THIS TEST DOES NOT DEFINE YOU - Very powerful; please watch!
