Hey there, students and parents! I really cannot believe that it's almost May. This year has flown by. We need your help! Please help us encourage students to STAY MOTIVATED these last few weeks. It is crucial that their grades do not drop here at the very end of the year. We want them to finish strong!
We will finally be back to a somewhat normal routine this week. We will be discussing the genre of historical fiction. We will be focusing on the skill of cause and effect. We will also be identifying/defining proverbs and adages within the stories that we read. I've included some helpful links below: Helpful Links: IXL.com: Cause and Effect (LLL.4) and Adages & Proverbs (GGG.1-GGG.4) Examples of Proverbs in Disney movies 5 minute Proverbs & Adages Lesson Cause and Effect Quiz Disney Short Films playlist - find the causes and effects within the films :) 5 minute Cause and Effect Lesson Be sure to check out the Upcoming Events tab for the FINAL EVENTS OF THE YEAR!!! And as always, thanks for visiting. :) ~ Mrs. Lee

Happy Saturday, friends! Hope you all are having a nice, relaxing weekend. This upcoming week will be a little bit different. On Monday, students will be going on a field trip to Oxford Lake for their ASPIRE testing reward. Please remind them to bring sunscreen, a hat and/or sunglasses, water, and any sports equipment/board games they would like to play with while we're there. Then on Friday, teachers have a professional development day. Students will not attend school. Due to all these events, we are going to continue our study of myths by watching Hercules! Students will have to fill out information as they go, so this will still be taken as a classwork grade, I'm excited to share this fun movie with them! As always, thanks for visiting! :)
~ Mrs. Lee :) P.S. As of Wednesday, we are ONE MONTH away from the last day of school! YAY! Hey there, friends! We survived testing week! Woo! I'm glad that's over. Now, let's get back to learning. I am SO excited about the genre we will be focusing on next week: myths. We have some fun activities coming up that center around that genre. Our comprehension skill for the week is the text structure of problem and solution. We've discussed this multiple times in class, so I feel confident that the students will flourish. Our final strategy is word origins, discovering how frequently used words received their meanings. I had some trouble finding age-appropriate links for myths and word origins, so my "helpful links" list is a little shorter than normal. Still, check it out before you go!

Spring Break has almost come to a close. I hope you all have enjoyed some rest and relaxation this week. I know I have. The next two weeks are going to be very different due to the ASPIRE testing schedule. We will be displaced to the gym for a few days this upcoming week while 7th and 8th grade test. On the days that we are in the building, we will be completing mock ASPIRE tests. I also have a few fun review games up my sleeve. :) 6th grade will begin testing not this week but next, the 11th-13th. In preparation for those tests, be sure to go to bed on time, eat a good breakfast, be on time for school, and wear comfy clothes.
Regular blog posts, helpful links included, will continue at the conclusion of testing. We will pick back up with the Wonders series and skills in several weeks. Until then, please check out the Upcoming Events tab to see what's happening in April. As always, thanks for visiting! :) ~ Mrs. Lee |
