Hey everyone! Hope you got to sleep in and rest on this gloomy, stormy Saturday. :) This week in class, students will be reading some expository texts centering around the environment and keeping our world clean. Within each text, students will be working to identify the main idea as well as some key details that support that main idea. Students will also be looking for synonyms and antonyms within each text. Students, I encourage to think back to past context clue lessons. If you do not know a word in the passage we are reading, check for context clues. Sometimes, an author will give you a synonym or antonym to help you define the unknown word. I hope you will check out the helpful links tab for fun videos and extra practice.
***One of the links I included at the bottom is to ixl.com. All SMS students have a username and password to access this website. Even if your student can't remember their login information, please encourage them to utilize the links. The website will give them a limited amount of very meaningful practice on each skill, even without an account.*** Helpful Links Flocabulary Main Idea Rap Review of finding main idea in nonfiction text - GOOD TIPS!
