Happy Friday, friends! We had a fabulous week of learning. Students tested on nonfiction text structures today, and I was very pleased with the results. :) Now, it's time to look ahead to next week. We will be reading expository texts focusing on natural disasters, like flooding and dust storms. Within those texts, students will use paragraph clues to determine the meaning of unknown words. They will also have to decide if the authors are writing from a neutral/objective standpoint by giving us just the facts, or if the authors are writing from a biased point of view by including their own opinions in their writings. We will test these skills on Friday. Check out the helpful links below for extra practice. ***On February 28th, 6th grade will be taking a field trip to the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum. If you haven't received your permission form yet, you will by the first of the week. The cost will be $20.00. Also, check out the "Upcoming Events" tab for an updated look at special events happening in February.
